Need a Digital Detox?

Between Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter, it’s no wonder a trending topic these days is Digital Detox. While social media platforms are a great way to keep connected and keep up with ongoing news and photos, it can be hard to take a step back and disconnect.

Constantly checking social media mimics a compulsive action which eventually effects our brain and its chemistry. There is a psychological dependence that can develop as a result. The immediate rewards of social media interactions activate the pleasure seeking areas of the brain and a chemical cascade. We keep wanting more and keep checking more often!

Can you do anything to get out of this loop? How can we perform our best if we are constantly seeking this type of digital connection? By continuously feeling the urge to check our phones, we are not letting ourselves recharge, leading to fatigue, stress, and anxiety. This is where the concept of a digital detox comes into play.

Challenge yourself to take a break from social media and digital connections – even if it is just for 60 minutes. By taking the time to detach from the constant connectivity, we allow ourselves to be cognizant and mindful of our own bodies. One way to take a step back is through Floatation-REST Therapy.

Floatation-REST Therapy is clinically proven to reduce stress and induce a deep state of relaxation and meditation. Not only this, but it gives us an uninterrupted hour of allowing our brains to take a break from the constant stimulation of today’s world. Being in a state of sensory deprivation allows us to reboot, and our brains become much more receptive to new information and solutions.

By doing a digital detox, we allow our bodies to disengage, and we can return feeling refreshed,  refocused and mindful. With a clearer state-of-mind, we can tackle our daily lives with a new perspective.

Want to try a 60-minute digital detox? Book a Floatation Therapy session at MIZU today!
